ABOUT THE PUBLIC ISSUES CSP
The Public Issues Community Service Program is designed to actively connect members with effective projects and activities relating to civic and social responsibilities. This Program focuses on citizenship, military personnel, emergence and disaster preparedness and safety and crime prevention.
The Public Issues Program in October 2018 featured a presentation by Commissioner Karen Seel on the issue of “Penny for Pinellas”. Mrs. Seel detailed how the money from “Penny for Pinellas” had been utilized and Pinellas County’s future plans if the program is renewed.
The CSP also organized a tour of the Pinellas County Solid Waste where members learned about the organization and the fact that the municipal waste is converted into electrical energy. http://www.pinellascounty.org/solidwaste/educational/tours.htm
Other activities included the distribution of 400 flags in the community by some members for Flag Day and the packaging of books and miscellaneous items for our troops. The merchandise was given to Veterans of Foreign War. These are some ways our club displays its patriotism.
The CSP also participated in the Daisy Grants Fundraiser. Two gift baskets were prepared to be raffled at the luncheon. All the proceeds help the club raise money to fund future Grant recipients.
