ABOUT THE ARTS CSP

For many years, the Arts CSP has sponsored a tree for the ARC’s “Festival of Trees”.  This event is a major fund raiser for the ARC.  The Arts CSP decides on its theme for the tree after the ARC announces the overall theme for the event.  Some of our past themes have been titled “What’s in Santa’s Bag?” and a “Teddy Bear Christmas”. The CSP is given a budget by the club to purchase materials or buy ready-made decorations for the tree. The week of the festival, Arts CSP members gather to decorate the tree at the designated location prior to judging and sale of the trees.  This event allows for the members to be creative and enjoy a fun activity together.

In January, the Arts CSP hosts the club’s Arts and Crafts Show.  Members submit entries of artwork that they have produced during the calendar year.  Photography, needlework, painting, sculpting and many other forms of art are displayed.  The artwork is judged by local artists.  Blue ribbon winners compete at the District Level in February.  District winners are then eligible for state competition at the GFWC Florida State competition in the Spring. Some of our artistic members are pictured below.  This program also features different speakers each year.  Their topics have ranged from an appreciation of local art museums to the benefits of art therapy.

February is the time for love and valentines.  The Arts CSP has made hand-crafted valentines for local nursing homes.  This year, the members worked on a project for the staff and mothers at Kimberly Home.  Small clay hearts were crafted into pins, paper lanterns were filled with candy and a mother’s prayer bookmark was given to all the staff and mothers.  Tiny heart ornaments were given to the mothers to hang in their children’s room or place on their Christmas Tree.

The Arts CSP participates in the Daisy Grants and Fashion Show by creating amazing raffle baskets.  Many members have also assisted in the creation of the centerpieces for the event.  This is just one of the many contributions that our members make to guarantee a successful event.  Teamwork is one of CCWC’s many positive traits.
